1956 Japan v South Korea

Japan v South Korea - 1956

Japan and South Korea played two matches, both in the Meiji Shrine Stadium in Tokyo, to decide which team would qualify for the 1956 Olympics in Melbourne.

Japan won 2-0 in the first game on 3 June, with South Korea winning the second game by the same score-line 2-0 on 10 June. Unable to separate the two teams, lots were drawn to decide which team would go to the 1956 Olympics, with Japan victorious.

In Melbourne, Japan would only play one game, being defeated by Australia 2-0.

The official programme covering both qualifying games is shown below.
