1970 Japan v Boldklubben 1903

Japan v Boldklubben 1903 - 1970

Denmark's champions, Boldklubben 1903 from Copenhagen travelled to Japan in July 1970 to play three games, including two against the Japan National Team. In the first game against the National Team on 9 July Boldklubben 1903 defeated Japan 4-3. However Japan was to exact revenge in the final game in the Tokyo National Stadium on 12 July as they narrowly defeated Boldklubben 1903 1-0. In between these two games Boldklubben 1903 played against a Japan Under-23 team.

The official programme, which covers all three tour games has 16 x B5 pages (three of which are adverts) and is all in Japanese. The programme begins with an introduction from the Japanese Football Association. There is then an article on Boldklubben 1903 and details of the three games to be played on their tour. There are then two pages listing the Boldklubben 1903 squad together with small photos of the players and officials. Details of the Japan National Team Squad are given along with small photos of their players. Details of the Japan Under-23 Team Squad are given along with small photos of their players. There is a page where the scores and line-ups etc. can be entered. Finally there is a two-page arrticle giving the results from the 1970 FIFA World Cup played in Mexico and details of previous winners.

The tie-pin I have in my collection for this game is very rare and interesting and would have been presented to one of the players or officials involved in the games.
