1973 - Japan v Union Espanola
Japan v Union Espanola - 1973
In 1970 Union Espanola of Chile toured Japan, playing three matches against the Japan National Team. The first game on 13 January in the Tokyo National Stadium was won 1-0 by Union Espanola. On 15 January in Kobe, Union Espanola won more comfortably 4-2. The final match was played in the Tokyo National Stadium again on 20 January where Union Espanola made it three wins out of three with a narrow 2-1 victory.
Two official programmes were produced for the Union Espanola games in Japan in 1973
The first programme, which covered all three games has 10 x B5 pages (including 3 pages of adverts) and is all in Japanese. After the introductions, the programme gives full details of the Union Espanola squad including small pen-picture photos of each of the players and officials. Details are given of the Japan squad including small player photos and finally there is a page to enter scores/line-ups etc.
The second programme below was only sold at the second game in Kobe and is particularly rare.
The medal I have in my collection for this game is also very rare and interesting and I suspect might possibly have been given to one of the players or officials?
