Japan lost 0-2 to South Korea in front of 58,000 spectators in the Yoyoki National Stadium, Tokyo in this Asia Group 3 Qualifying Game for the 1976 Montreal Olympics. A further two defeats to Israel, which was somewhat bizarrely competing in the Asian Qualifying sealed Japan's fate, and it was Israel not Japan which went on to qualify for the Olympic Games soccer tournament.
