The fifth Kirin Cup (Japan Cup) tournament was held in Japan from 30 May to 9 June 1982 and featured Japan, Feyenoord (Holland), Werder Bremen (Germany), Singapore and NKK Nippon Kokan (Japan). The format for this tournament was changed with all of the teams playing each other in a single group. Werder Bremen defeated Japan 2-1, Singapore 6-1, NKK 6-0 and drew with Feyenoord 1-1 to top the group and win the 1982 Kirin Cup.
The official 1982 Kirin Cup programme has 30 x A4 pages and is all in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing teams together with small photos of each of their players. It also has one page on the first Japanese player to play professionally in Europe, Werder Bremen's Yasuhiko Okudera. Finally the programme has a page with the results of the previous four Kirin Cup tournaments.
