AC Milan v Nacional

A last minute goal in extra time from man of the match Alberigo Evani secured a 1-0 victory for AC Milan of Italy against Atletico Nacional of Colombia in the tenth Toyota Cup Final contested in Tokyo in front of over 60,000 supporters on 17 December 1989.

The official 1989 Toyota Cup programme shown below is 100 x colour A4 pages. Apart from the introductions, the programme is all in Japanese. The programme begins with a feature on match referee Erik Fredriksson. It then moves on to give full details and photos of AC Milan and Atletico Nacional and their players along with further information on star players including Marco Van Basten and Franco Baresi of AC Milan and Rene Higuita and Andres Escobar of Atletico Nacional amongst others. The programme also has articles on rival managers Arrigo Sacchi and Francisco Maturana and an article on the cities of Milan in Italy and Medellin in Colombia. The programme includes details and photos from the previous nine Toyota Cup Finals and an article on previous Intercontinental Cup Finals. Finally the programme details how AC Milan and Atletico Nacional won the 1989 European Cup and 1989 Copa Libertadores respectively.

The hard-backed green 10th Anniversary Toyota Cup book shown below is a particularly nice item of memorabilia in my collection. It has 148 pages, is in Japanese and English, and is packed full of colour photographs from the first ten Toyota Cup Finals.
