1991 Kirin Cup

Kirin Cup 1991

After a three year break, the twelth Kirin Cup tournament was held in Japan from 2 June to 9 June 1991 and featured Japan, Tottenham Hotspur (England), Vasco da Gama (Brazil) and Thailand. The format for this tournament was changed with all of the teams playing each other in a single group, with the team topping the group winning the Kirin Cup. Japan defeated Thailand 1-0, Vasco da Gama 2-1, and Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 to top the group and win their first Kirin Cup.

The official 1991 Kirin Cup programme has 68 x glossy colour A4 pages and is in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing teams squads with small photos of each of their players. There are special articles on Tottenham Hotspur and Vasco de Gama and on their star players (with full page colour photos) including Gary Lineker and Garry Mabbutt of Spurs and Bebeto and Bismarck of Vasco de Gama amongst others. Finally there are details of previous Kirin Cup Soccer Tournaments and photos of previous star players in action including Zico and Osvaldo Ardiles.
