The 1994 Kirin Cup featured Japan, France and Australia. In the opening game in Hiroshima on 22 May 1994 Japan drew with Australia 1-1 as an early goal from Asano was cancelled out by a goal from Tony Vidmar. In the second game in Kobe on 26 May France defeated Australia 1-0 with a goal from Eric Cantona. In the final game in Tokyo on 29 May France defeated Japan 4-1 in front of 60,000 fans with goals from Djorkaeff, Papin and two from David Ginola to win the 1994 Kirin Cup.

The official 1994 Kirin Cup programme has 52 x glossy colour A4 pages and is in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing national teams squads with small photos of each of their players. There are special articles on all three national teams and on their star players (with full page colour photos) including Kazuyoshi Miura of Japan and Eric Cantona and John-Pierre Papin of France amongst others.
