The 1995 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Ecuador and Scotland. In the opening game in Hiroshima on 21 May 1995 Scotland held Japan to a 0-0 draw, despite having John Spencer sent off in the 34th minute. Omura of Japan was also red carded with two minutes to go. In the second game in Toyama on 24 May Scotland defeated Ecuador 2-1 with goals from John Robertson and Stevie Crawford. In the final game in Tokyo on 28 May Japan defeated Ecuador 3-0 in front of 50,000 fans with a goal from Nakayama and two second-half penalty kicks from Miura to win the 1995 Kirin Cup on goal difference from Scotland.
