A goal with nine minutes of normal time left to go from man of the match Allesandro Del Piero secured a 1-0 victory for Juventus of Italy against River Plate of Argentina in the seventeenth Toyota Cup Final contested in Tokyo in front of over 48,000 supporters on 26 November 1996.
