The 1999 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Belgium and Peru. In the opening game in Kyoto on 30 May 1999 Belgium and Peru drew 1-1 with a goal from Stephane Tanghe of Belgium cancelling out an earlier strike from Flavio Maestri. In the second game in Tokyo on 3 June Japan and Belgium drew 0-0 in front of 55,000 supporters. In the final game in Yokohama on 6 June Peru held Japan to a 0-0 draw in front of nearly 67,000 supporters. This meant that Peru and Belgium shared the 1999 Kirin Cup on the basis of goals scored, with Japan in third place.
The official 1999 Kirin Cup programme for this tournament has 60 x glossy colour A4 pages and is in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing national teams squads with small photos of each of their players.
