The 2000 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Slovakia and Bolivia. In the opening game in Sendai on 11 June a goal from Shunsuke Nakamura cancelled out an earlier strike from Peter Dzurik to earn Japan a 1-1 draw against Slovakia. In the second game in Saga on 14 June Slovakia defeated Bolivia 2-0 with goals from Roman Kratochvil and Martin Fabus. In the final game in Yokohama on 18 June Japan also defeated Bolivia 2-0 with two goals from Atsushi Yanagisawa. This meant that Japan and Slovakia shared the 2000 Kirin Cup title.

The official 2000 Kirin Cup programme for this tournament has 60 x glossy colour A4 pages and is in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing national teams squads with small photos of each of their players. There are special articles on all three national teams and on their star players (with full page colour photos) including Masashi Nakayama of Japan, Stanislav Varga of Slovakia and Marco Antonio Etcheverry of Bolivia amongst others.
