Kirin Cup 2002
(Japan, Slovakia, Honduras)
The 2002 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Slovakia and Honduras. In the opening game in Tokyo on 29 April 2002 Japan defeated Slovakia 1-0 with a goal from Akinori Nishizawa. In the second game in Kobe on 2 May Japan and Honduras drew 3-3 with two goals for Shunsuke Nakamura and a goal from Alessandro Santos for Japan, balanced out by a strike from Jose Luis Pineda and two goals from Carlos Pavon. Only two matches were played so Japan were therefore the winners of the 2002 Kirin Cup.
