The 2003 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Argentina and Paraguay. In the opening game in Osaka on 8 June 2003 Argentina defeated Japan 4-1 with goals from Javier Saviola, Javier Zanetti, Bernardo Romeo and Maxi Rodriguez. In the second game in Saitama on 11 June Japan and Paraguay drew 0-0. Only two matches were played so Argentina was therefore the winners of the 2003 Kirin Cup.

The official 2003 Kirin Cup programme has 76 x glossy colour A4 pages and apart from some introductions in Spanish is all in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing Japan squad with small photos of each of their players. The Argentina and Paraguay squads are given without pen pictures. There are special articles on all three national teams and on star players from all three National teams (with full page colour photos) including Shinji Ono of Japan, Javier Zanetti of Argentina and Nelson Cuevas of Paraguay amongst others. Japan's results in previous games against Argentina and Paraguay are given. Finally there are details of previous Kirin Cup Tournaments.
