The 2004 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Slovakia and Serbia and Montenegro. In the opening game in Tokyo on 9 July 2004 Japan defeated Slovakia 3-1 with goals from Fukinishi, Suzuki and Yanagisawa. In the second game in Fukuoka on 11 July Serbia and Montenegro defeated Slovakia 2-0 with goals from Savo Milosevic and Nenad Jestrovic. In the final game in Yokohama on 13 July Japan defeated Serbia and Montenegro 1-0 with a goal from Yasuhito Endo to win the 2004 Kirin Cup.
The official 2004 Kirin Cup programme for this has 76 x glossy colour A4 pages and apart from some introductions in English is all in Japanese. The programme includes the list of fixtures and details of the competing Japan team squads with small photos of each of their players. The Slovakia and Serbia and Montenegro squads are given without pen pictures. There are special articles on all three national teams and on their star players (with large colour photos) including Peter Babnic of Slovakia and Savo Milosevic of Serbia and Montenegro amongst others.
