The 2008 Kirin Cup featured Japan, Ivory Coast and Paraguay. In the opening game in Yokohama on 22 May 2008 Ivory Coast and Paraguay drew 1-1 with a goal from Kandia Traore of the Ivory Coast cancelled out by a Cristian Bogodo strike for Paraguay. In the second game in Toyota on 24 May Japan defeated Ivory Coast 1-0 with a goal from Keiji Tamada. In the final game in Saitama on 27 May Japan and Paraguay drew 0-0, leaving Japan as winners of the 2008 Kirin Cup.
